20 Oct What do you know about the WATER-MINING Living Labs?
What comes to your mind when you hear the term Living Labs? Living Labs is a concept that we are getting more and more familiar with over the last years but what do they really mean for a project like WATER-MINING?
In the WATER-MINING project, the Living Labs are very crucial to showcase the project’s methods and innovations to extended audiences. Living Labs refer to user-centred, open innovation ecosystems based on a systematic user co-creation approach that integrate research and innovation processes in real-life communities and settings. In practice, Living Labs place the citizen at the centre of innovation and have thus shown an ability to better mould the opportunities offered by new information & communication technologies (ICT) concepts to the specific needs and aspirations of local contexts and cultures.

During the first year of the project, two rounds of workshops dedicated to the WATER-MINING Living Labs were held. Koen Vervoort from ENoLL, the European Network of Living Labs, carried out two workshops, one with CIEMAT (Center for Energy, Environmental and Technological Research) on the 8th of June and one with Floating Farm on the 9th of June.
In these workshops, Living Labs partners defined the objectives of the Living Labs, identified and classified the relevant stakeholders, and made a preliminary list of possible activities to meet the defined objectives. By outlining this information, the Living Labs partners are advancing the development of the plan to establish their corresponding Living Labs.
