PARQUECIENCIAS

PARQUE CIENCIAS is a third party, it is linked through its membership of ECSITE. The Parque de las Ciencias is a Consortium comprised by different national, regional, provincial, local institutions (Regional Ministries of Education, Science, Innovation, Environment, Town Hall, National research Council, University of Granada…). This allows it to formalise easily collaboration agreements with different stakeholders related or belonging to the institutions that configure the consortium. The Parque de las Ciencias is an Andalusia?s science centre and museum. Located in the city of Granada, it opened in 1995 under the motto A new kind of Museum. It occupies 70.000m2. The museum holds permanent and temporary exhibitions, a Planetarium, an Astronomical Observatory, an Astronomical Garden, educational facilities and a cultural gallery that includes several versatile and flexible spaces with different capacities ranging from 50 to 550 people, a caf? and restaurant, bookshop, library, cinemas, etc. In the museum complex, approximately 220 people are employed. In addition to this, in 2016 BioDomo was opened. The Biodomo is a window to life. Its main pillar is the biodiversity of the planet. It is a space to understand the relationships between human beings and the environment where they live, as well as the mechanisms facilitating life and the need to preserve it. It is an immersive place where the living creatures are the main characters, but above all, it is a space dedicated to environmental education, species conservation and scientific research.
